The Cool Companies Allow Telecommuting
Telecommuting is inarguably one of the most appealing “job perks” of them all - allowing employees to work from the comfort of their own homes and spend more time with the family. And the awesome thing about it? More and more companies, everywhere you look, are adding telecommuting opportunities in order to keep moving with the times and thrive in today’s economic world.
Based on Fortune Magazine’s 2006 ranking of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, an astounding 79 of the 100 allow employees to telecommute at least 20 percent of the time. What does this signify? An incredible 335 percent increase since 1999, when a mere 18 companies on the list supported that option.
And telecommuting isn’t the only perk offered by these companies. More and more companies are demonstrating strides in other areas that promote work-life balance, such as compressed workweeks, four ten-hour days with Friday off, flexible schedules, sabbaticals, and more.
Check with your company to see if telecommuting is an option. If not, look into other companies (they’re everywhere these days) to send your resume to. Good luck!
