It was weird writing out this title. I had no idea it was 9/11 until I wrote the header for this post. I’d like to express my sorrow for any of those directly affected by 9/11 and the resulting war.

  1. Living in N.Y. remembering the moment I heard the news, well I ‘ll never forget it. I called my father to make sure my parents had the news on and proceeded to get ready for work. Once I got there everyone was moving in slow motion as we listened to the news reports. We then all heard that the EAB building might be targeted. I live 2 miles from there and my company emptyed out. Everyone ran to rip their kids out of school. We were in direct line. How do you tell them with out terrifying them or everyone else around them? The next 24 hours was torture.I sat on the phone on and off for 8 hours with a friend whos son was on an interview in building 1 that morning at 9. Where was he? Thankfully he turned up 24 hours later.
Somehow somewhere you knew someone who knew someone. We were all involved and hurt.
Thankyou to all, the whole country who came together to help and mourn.

  2. I think all of America grew up on 9/11. The horrible tragedy that it was, and continues to be, we take to gird up our strength. I went out into my small town that day, a town that seemed worlds apart form NY before, and there were flags everywhere. I will never forget driving up our main blvd ( and I do me UP) and seeing in the distance the tip of a flag bobbing ans swaying. It moved in jerks rather than swayed. Far left then a little right, then far left …all the way up the road. Finally we came up over the hill and could see the full picture. There was everything that my country means to me….everything that those who plotted 9/11 sought to destroy. Walking miles and miles uphill carrying a huge oversize flag, obviously meant for display rather than to for carrying, was a man whose one leg was somehow disabled. As he walked, his whole body would sway hard to the left, the right and hard jerk to the left again. It was terribly hot and the sweat was pouring down his face. I wanted to get out and help him but realized he did not need my help. I wanted to walk with him, but realized I was not even worthy enough to walk behind him. He was doing all he knew to do in that moment…….. if only we would all just do what we know to do. There are so many heroes out there, and so many waiting to be changed. With all its “issues”, I am proud of my Country and proud of my fellow countrymen ( and women!).
