Do Telecommuters Get Sick Days?

Yea, I’m sick.

Sick enough to sit on the couch all day and switch between reruns of American Pie on USA and Mythbusters on Discovery Channel. You know it’s bad when you don’t want to even lift the remote to avoid watching the train wreck that is American Pie. Luckily for me, my mind started wandering and I had to ask myself: do telecommuters get to take days off when they’re sick?

Naturally, the answer has to be yes. But, since most of my work is done from the comfort of my home (read: in pajamas), I’d have to be in really really bad shape to not be able to sit up at a chair and do a little work. And by sit up, I don’t mean lay on the couch. And by work, I definitely don’t mean watch overrated teen movies. Either way, I went against my better judgment and gave myself the day off and did little more than waste away on the couch.

So why am I writing this post? It’s now 5:43PM and I decided I can’t just sit around all day and expect to pick up the pieces tomorrow. It’s never that convenient and it’s always a lot harder than it sounds. I can tell you one thing though: bribing yourself works. The quicker I publish this post, the quicker I’ll allow myself to get a bowl of ice cream. However, the hard part will be returning to the computer.
