I'll setup your blog and give you full instructions on how to use it and make money from it absolutely free of charge. What are you waiting for?

Our readers often write to us with the following question: How can I make some extra money online in my spare time? I can’t tell you how many times this question has come in. Our answer is always the same: Start your own website, with our help of course! We offer free blog installations for anyone looking to start their own website. Included with your installation will be a guide that I’ve used to go from not knowing anything about starting a website to a full-time blogger in about two year’s time. Interested? Keep reading!

If you want your own domain name and blog, but don’t want to deal with any of the technical aspects of setting one up, let me do it for you. All you need to do is follow the instructions I’ve linked to at the bottom of this post. I’ve laid out a detailed 10-step process (with pictures!) that will show you how to order a domain name and hosting. Once you do that, I’ll handle all of the scary technical stuff and you’ll be left with a fully functional blog. All you have to do is provide content.

A few points before we get started…

I’ll be giving you complete instructions on how to manage your blog and make money from it. This is YOUR website. You’ll be in complete control over your success.

You can’t already own a domain name or host. I’ll be referring you to a hosting company that I use and trust. It’s the same company that hosts this very blog.

It will cost you $25 today to get started. All of this money will go directly to buying a domain name and setting up your hosting. The service and information I have to offer is completely free!

I’m not looking to partner up and start a new blog. I’m busy enough as it is and I don’t have time to dedicate to starting another blog. After I install WordPress for you, you will be on your own! I have developed a list of websites and resources for you to use once I’m finished. This will be able to answer any questions you may have. Seriously!

I’ll be setting up and installing the blogging platform WordPress. I can’t build community sites, message boards, classified sites, or forums. Once my work is done, you will have a blog that is run by WordPress. If you are unsure as to where your idea for a website falls, click here for a brief introduction to blogging.

These free blog installs are coming with even more free information, including the methods I use to increase traffic and make money! All free to those who setup a new blog.

I know, I know. I’ve been plugging these free blog installs too much over these last few posts. Well, this will be the final post regarding them. Be sure to read this entire post though!

Testimonials

I just wanted to publish a couple of testimonials from readers who have followed my instructions are are now operating their own blogs.

Steve was wonderful in setting up my blog. I am impressed with the speed in which it was set up and ready to go. In only two hours Steve had my blog set up and ready for me to start blogging. The information he provided was very useful and the instructions clear and easy to follow. Overall I am extremely happy with my new blogsite!Frances – http://www.grlcraft.com/

The next testimonial is from someone working on a personal blog and didn’t want their name or URL revealed.

I was a bit afraid to start my own blog. I have no technical background and mostly use the Internet to just browse websites and to respond to emails. I have had an idea for a website for a few years now, but I knew nothing about starting my own website. Steve’s offer to set everything up for free was the answer I was looking for. Well, let me just say that the instructions were so easy to follow and Steve had my blog online within 30 minutes of emailing him!

I’ve been a blogger for about two days now and I can see this quickly forming into an addictive (and hopefully profitable) hobby.
Anonymous

I’ve setup seven blogs so far since last Wednesday. If I helped you out, send over a testimonial so I can publish it on this blog! You’ll get some free publicity and a link back to your website.

Expanding on the Instruction Set

I’m currently working on expanding the instruction set to include a detailed series of pages explaining how I drive traffic to my blog and then convert that traffic into revenue. That’s right, you’ll learn the exact methods I use to make money online. Will I be giving away every secret of my success? Well, of course not as I don’t want you to run me out of business. But, I will tell you how you can get started with making money on your new blog. This information will only be available to those who take advantage of my free blog installation service. I am not developing any sort of program or membership site that will cost you money. Anything I write will always be completely free for those who follow my instruction set to setup a new blog.

While I develop this next section on how to make money with your new website, you should take this time now to setup and get familiar with your very own blog. The process is very simple as evidenced by the above testimonials.
I'll handle all of the scary technical stuff. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy your new blog.

Lately, we’ve been pushing the idea of buying your own domain name and setting up a website. After all, it is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to make money online. Take our website for example. We’ve been open for two years now, our monthly operating costs are under $15 and we bring in well over four figures each month. I bet you wouldn’t mind that little bump of income.

Let me help you get started. Free of charge.

The thought of setting up a website is probably scary to some. That’s why I’ll handle all of the technical aspects of getting a website started, free of charge. You come up with the name and idea for the website and I’ll get it up and running. When I’m done, the only thing you’ll have to do is write content for your blog. The rest will be handled by Wordpress.

I do have two requirements however. First, you can’t already have a host or domain name. I don’t have time to get acquainted with every host available, so I will point you to the one I use and trust. Second, you need to have an idea for a website or at the very least, an idea for an available domain name.

With that said, here’s what you have to do.

Those of you interested email me at Steve@IveTriedThat.com with your idea for a website.

I’ll then email you a complete set of instructions with pictures included on how to buy hosting and a domain name.

You will then email me all of the information I need to set things up.

I’ll setup your new blog and theme as selected by you, and install a few essential WordPress plugins.

Once I’m finished, I’ll email you a few details on how to use your new blog.

You login to your new blog, change the password so I can’t access it again later, and you’re all set!

This is a basic service however. I will not move over an existing blog to a new domain and I’m not going to be your personal blog tutor. I’ll set you up with a blog and some solid instructions and resources on how to use it, but since this is a free service, that’s as far as I can go.

Total cost to you will be $25.00 for web hosting and a domain name. Followed by $9.95/month to keep your host. Again, you don’t have to pay me a dime. All of that money will be going towards establishing your website. My work will be completed free of charge. Sound good? Follow the instructions above and send me an email!

That's right, someone is giving away a 50-page eBook that will teach you how to make and save even more money. Again, for free. Shocked?

The eBook is called “Everything You Ever Really Needed to Know About Personal Finance On Just One Page” and despite it’s name, it’s about 50 pages of sheer money-management goodness. Given the name, it would be ridiculous to then charge people for this eBook. Lucky for you, Trent, the author of The Simple Dollar, has decided to give it away for free.

There are five main chapters to the book and each chapter is broken down into specific ways you can spend less, earn more, and simply save money. I consistently found myself saying, “I can’t believe I’m not doing this already!” while reading the book and I suspect many of you will do the same. Be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed while you’re over there. The Simple Dollar is hands down one of the best online resources when it comes to personal finance.

Take a few minutes today and stop to read this book. After all, it is Friday and I’m sure you’re looking for something other to do than work. I know I am.

I received a bunch of emails asking me various questions about ING Direct and the post I made about it on Monday. I'd like to take the time to answer them directly on the blog as I'm sure more than a couple people have had these questions.

I received a bunch of emails asking me various questions about ING Direct and the post I made about it on Monday. I’d like to take the time to answer them directly on the blog as I’m sure more than a couple people have had these questions.

ING Direct Questions and Answers

Is it really free to sign up?

Yes! It is absolutely entirely one-hundred-percent free to sign up for a savings account with ING Direct. There are never any fees. You can’t overdraw. You can’t get penalized. ING Direct will never take money from you. Instead, they give you a nice return on your deposit in the form of monthly interest. You can deposit and withdrawal as you please without ever having to pay a dime.

I don’t know much about online banking. Is it easy to setup?

The process is very, very easy to setup. Once you create an account, you need to give ING Direct your banks routing and account numbers, both of which are found on one of your personal checks. There are diagrams and a walkthrough to show you exactly which information you need to input. Once you give them your information, ING will make two small deposits into your checking account (free money!) to confirm that you did give them the right information. Once you confirm your account, you will be free to transfer money between your ING Direct and checking account.

How do I receive my monthly interest payment?

Monthly interest payments are added directly to your account. From there you can transfer it back to your checking account and spend it, or leave it in your ING account and continue to build interest on that as well. I personally just leave it in my ING account as it helps build up the interest payment for the next month.

How can they offer such a high interest rate?

ING Direct operates entirely online. They don’t have to manage hundreds of locations. This means they have very low overhead costs. They then pass this savings on to you in the form of a high interest rate.

How much have you made?

In 2008, I made $37.77 on about $1,200. I left $1,500 in my banks savings account and made only $4.50. My savings account had more money than my ING account, yet made only a fraction in terms of interest. Think of the money you could be making with ING. Your money is probably sitting in your savings account, earning next to nothing.

Open an ING account today, for free, and deposit a little bit of money just to try it out. Once you see how much money you could be making, you won’t look back twice. I know I haven’t.

Register an account at Twitter and follow our updates for a chance to win some fabulous prizes! Don't know what Twitter is? Keep reading to learn more about this free service.

I first registered my Twitter account back in August. I made a few updates, followed a few people, and generally thought the entire thing was useless. About a week later, I had forgotten I registered the damn thing. It seemed stupidly pointless then.

Now, I can’t leave it alone. I don’t know what’s changed but I’m slowly becoming addicted to Twitter. I don’t know why. I’m posting more frequently and I can’t stop reading other peoples updates. Twitter is still more or less useless, but I’m beginning to see the fun side of things.

Subscribe to our Twitter.

Are you in the dark about Twitter? Am I speaking French? Well, Twitter is a website that lets you stay connected with friends, family, or coworkers through quick and simple messages that all revolve around the question, “What are you doing?” It may sound a bit pointless, but it’s fun and keeps you in contact with others. If you don’t have a Twitter account, click here and sign up. It’s free and the signup process is quick and painless.

Now that you have a Twitter account, you need to follow our updates on Twitter. Why? Because I’ve decided to randomly give away free copies of our book to new subscribers. I’ve already given away three copies and I’m usually in a generous mood. Right now, I’ll be giving out books randomly, but I’ll be planning a better method of distributing books. Of course, I will tweet about it.

Click here to follow our Twitter account and enter to win a free book.

Idea for a new Twitter account? I’ve also been thinking about creating a Twitter account with links to various money saving deals around the web. Sort of like a Slickdeals/FatWallet meets Twitter. I’m also thinking there could be monthly Amazon gift certificate giveaways. I need to write this down on paper and work it out. Either way, would you be interested? Let me know!

I’m working on my taxes. God, I hate this time of year. I have better things to do with my time than browse receipts and give money to the government. However, there was one redeeming quality that brightened up my day: the interest earned using my ING Direct account.

ING Direct vs. Your Bank Account

Here’s a brief review for those of you unfamiliar with online banking. ING Direct is a free online bank that offers high interest savings accounts. Their current interest rate is 2.20%. Compare that to a typical bank’s average interest rate at 0.42% and you can see why more and more people are starting to switch to ING.

I started using ING Direct last year and would make a small deposit whenever I could. It quickly added up and my monthly interest deposit from ING dwarfed the deposit from my bank. My bank offered me petty change and ING offered me worthwhile money. Sure, it’s just a few dollars, but it’s more than what I was previously receiving.

Here are my interest earnings for 2008:

Interest Paid from ING Direct: $37.77
Interest Paid from PNC Bank: $4.50

If someone extended both of their hands and let you choose the $4.50 from the one hand or $37.77 from the other, you would never choose the $4 hand. It just doesn’t make sense. Using your banks savings account to accrue interest doesn’t make sense either. Open up a FREE ING account today and start letting your money work for you.

I’ve Tried That Investigates: “Free for Seniors”

We take our first look at "Free for Seniors," a book and e-book being sold through various outlets. The quick version: I wouldn't buy it. The longer version: I would not buy it even if I were a senior.

A reader wrote to ask us about a book advertisement that recently appeared in the “Lebanon Daily News.” The book is called “Free for Seniors” and the ad apparently included this image. (That’s the only size we have.)

The ad was a mail-in form so that you could buy the book for $14.95 + $4 shipping and handling. You can also buy an ebook of the same title for $17.77. We don’t know if it’s the same book just made digital.

The Cautions

Something doesn’t smell quite right here. First, if the book being sold is the one shown in the image (Is the author “Murray L Broach?”), the book was written in 1977.

Second, the book has several other incarnations: Free Stuff for Seniors, by Matt Lesko and Mary Ann Martello (1998); Free Stuff for Seniors, by Frank Wood (2000); The Book of Free Things for Seniors, by Linda Kalian (2002), and more. What this duplication suggests to me is that the books are cobbled together from readily available, public, free information.

Third, reviews of this type of book at Amazon.com are mostly negative and claim that you have to live in very rural areas or have special needs to qualify for the free government stuff. They also say that the information is freely available online.

To be fair, there are also a couple of positive reviews. Read the good and bad for yourself here.

We’re considering buying the e-book and doing a full-fledged review. Check back later or sign up for e-mail updates to be notified when we do that.

, it’s time you seriously consider a change. Odds are, you’re browsing with Internet Explorer. You may not even know that there are alternatives out there to browsing the web. Well, it’s time to get educated my friend.

The following is a list of some of Firefox’s features:

Security
For starters, Firefox is much more secure than Internet Explorer. Incorporated directly into the program are the following features: anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-phishing, parental controls, password manager, pop-up blocker, and automated updates.

Speed
Firefox also operates a lot quicker than Internet Explorer. In fact, Firefox 3 uses less of your system’s resources and is faster than any other browser on the market today.

Customization
Firefox has thousands of different plug-ins, extensions, and themes that will allow you to customize both the look and feel of your browser. My favorite plug-in is the weather dock. It tells me the current weather forecast and much more every time I open my browser.

And Much, Much More…
Built in feed reader, download manager, spell checking, session restore, image loading, full zoom, search suggestions, smart keywords, integrated web search, tabs, save on exit, offline browsing, live support, and hundreds of other features that would take too long to list.

Firefox’s World Record

Join the millions of people today who are pledging to download Firefox 3 to set the world record for the most number of downloads of a program in 24 hours. I know I’ve already upgraded every computer in my house and I highly suggest you do the same.

Overall, Firefox is simply the best web browser available today and it’s absolutely, entirely, 100% free. Don’t put yourself at risk due to negligence. At the very least, download and install Firefox now. You don’t have to switch over right away, but I guarantee that once you start using Firefox, you’ll never go back to Internet Explorer.
