The Good News Just Keeps Coming

Psst! Hey, Google, buddy. Better late than never, I say. But what took you so long?

Google has finally started to target scams like Google Treasure Chest that use its name. This action is fresh on the heels of the FTC’s July 1 announcement of legal actions against the owners/initiators of the scams.

Coincidence? I think not!

If you are a scammer that sells Google Money Tree or Google Treasure Chest or other misleading programs using the Google name, here’s the email they’ll send you:

It’s come to our attention that you have submitted ads that promote Google Money Tree or ads that promote a misrepresented affiliation with Google. Due to multiple complaints from our users and publishers, we’ve made the decision not to accept these ads.

This is a notification that your account has been suspended due to the submission of these ads and your ads will no longer run on Google. Please note that future accounts you open will also be suspended.

It’s about time! Google happily accepted ad revenue from these programs until the FTC announced lawsuits. Hmmm….

Two important things to note here:
1. This action hurts affiliates who sell the scams, not just the jerks who thought them up and started them.
2. Some people have sold the scams unwittingly and they are being punished, too. (They simply chose a high-converting product to market without looking carefully at the product.)

So you see? All that complaining you’ve been doing over the last few months is finally paying off. The squeaky wheel and all. Keep up the good work and stay sharp.

I am so happy that they’ve finally cracked down on all of these scams. My bank account was overdrawn nearly $800 because of scams like Google Money Tree and Google PayDay. Looks like they’re finally getting what they deserve.
